Vision

As Christians and partners in Christ’s Church, we are to be witnesses to the Gospel message, making disciples through preaching, teaching, and baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Alongside this, every church should have a vision that defines how they will go about fulfilling this primary call.  The following three statements articulate the vision behind our work at Horizon.

We will look to The Bible, God’s Holy Word, as our only guide.

We will never allow culture norms or religious tradition to dictate who we are or what we do as a church.  We seek to create environments and opportunities for decision, growth, and discipleship through the Word of God that remove all unnecessary obstacles.

We are determined to see the Gospel message have a city impact.

Our purpose is more than just creating a church service that people want to attend once a week.  Our goal is city impact.  Living in true consciousness of God’s Word will lead us beyond church programming and into the streets of our city.  We believe that the impact of the Gospel on our lives will lead us to desire a positive change in our city, and that as a church we must act upon that conviction and the commands of Scripture.

We are concerned with the work of The Church, not just our church.

Even though we must focus on the work of our local body until it has reached an appropriate level of viability, we are a church that desires to see more churches planted and are already contributing to that work in several different ways.  As our church grows and matures, there will continue to be a conscious effort put forth to gather and send both people and resources to places where the work of the Church is most needed.  The work of The Church, not just our church, is the priority.
